(Previous Baptism Service)
At NEO Church, we believe baptism is a public expression of the inward change that comes from salvation in Jesus Christ. When a person is baptized, they are publicly identifying themselves with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection symbolized by immersion in water. Just as Jesus died for the sin of all mankind, we are now dead to our old self, and alive in Christ!
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
- 1 Peter 2:24
But you were cleansed; you were made holy; you were made right with God by calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
- 1 Corinthians 6:11
Does getting baptized mean I'm saved? The believer's salvation comes from the atoning death of Jesus Christ on the cross, and His victory over the grave, not from water baptism.
I was baptized as an infant, does this count? Being baptized is an act of obedience to a direct command in Scripture (Matthew 28:19). It's a conscious, personal decision, not one your parents make for you.
Is baptism for me? Baptism is for the person who has trusted in Jesus Christ as their Savior and have decided to set Him apart as Lord of their life.
