Ushers help to maintain an orderly service. As a team, they monitor the congregation to make sure that every guest is comfortable, and the message isn't interrupted. If there are any distractions during service, ushers may assist. Ushers may direct parents to a quiet nursery area, or contact security in case of an emergency.
- Offering – Taking offering is part of the worship service. Ushers take collection and return the baskets to the designated after-service accountant.
- Security – Some ushers take a circuit around the facility to make sure ministries are running well and there are no uncertified or unsafe visitors in kids or middle school areas. Some ushers sit in service and keep any eye and an ear for any distractions and how they can resolve them in a peaceful and humble manner.
You can serve as little or as often as you like. Most ushers serve every Sunday if they are not volunteering with another ministry on that day.
